Home Remedies To Fight Back Dandruff This Winter

Winter is coming, quite literally and with it comes the problems of dandruff and dry skin. While you enjoy the snowflakes on the outside, your head showers have dandruff flakes. It causes rashes and a great number of embarrassment for a longer period. It may often make your scalp oily and irritation. Many factors and be held responsible for causing these tiny white flakes such as dry skin, seborrheic dermatitis, certain fungus growth or sensitivity to some hair products. Though causes can be many, you can keep them in check with these simple tips and tricks.
  • Lemon and honey-

Lemon & Honey- No to Dandruff
While lemon has anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties, honey acts as a moisturiser. Make a paste of 3 tablespoons of honey with few drops of freshly squeezed out lemon juice. Massage it on your scalp and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. wash off with mild shampoo.
  • Baking soda-

Baking Soda: No to Dandruff

You may find many over-the-counter remedies to treat dandruff, one of the most effective product can be found in your pantry. Baking soda works as an exfoliant and removes dead skin cells and thoroughly cleansing your scalp. Make a paste of baking soda and water and massage it gently on your scalp. Let it sit for not more than a couple of minutes and rinse with shampoo. 

  • Apple cider vinegar-

Apart from being beneficial for weight loss and body detoxification, apple cider vinegar is an excellent product to cure dandruff. It changes the pH level of your scalp thus making it difficult for the fungus to grow. Mix equal proportions of vinegar and water and spray it on your scalp and hair, leave it for 30-45 minutes and wash as usual.

  • Aloe vera-

 

Known for its variety of medicinal properties, one out of it is treating dandruff and dry skin. It not only removes the flakes but also makes your scalp and hair soft and lustrous. Also, it soothes the skin thus reducing the itchiness as well. Take out the gel from the leaf, churn it in a blender to make a smooth paste and apply it onto the scalp and hair. Leave it for 30-45 minutes and wash your hair as usual.

  • Fenugreek and yoghurt-Fenugreek and yoghurt- No to Dandruff

Fenugreek is ideal to cure various hair issues one of which is dandruff. Yoghurt, on the other hand, adds moisture to the scalp. Soak 2 tablespoons of fenugreek seeds (methi seeds) in half cup of yoghurt. Add in 2 amlas and 3-4 curry leaves overnight. Blend the mixture to get the smooth paste. Apply it starting from the root to down to the tip. Let it sit for 30-45 minutes and rinse with warm water.

Brushing your hair stimulates the scalp which improves the blood circulation thus increasing the secretion of oil which keeps your scalp and hair healthy.
